Built for curious IFS people
howtoifs is an independent learning project for people working with IFS Cloud. The aim is simple: make a complex platform easier to understand, one practical lesson at a time.
What you can learn here
Section titled “What you can learn here”We are starting with the essentials and configuration concepts for newcomers, consultants, and administrators. The current library contains 20 concept drafts and dozens of in-depth guides across seven paths, browser practice tools, a planning project, downloadable worksheets, and reference guides. You can read everything without creating an account.
How we create lessons
Section titled “How we create lessons”Each lesson should explain its outcome, prerequisites, expected result, and sources. Hands-on lessons also need repeatable steps, troubleshooting, and cleanup instructions.
We distinguish three content states:
- Concept draft: an explanation or planning exercise awaiting expert review.
- Walkthrough draft: proposed system steps awaiting review and environment testing.
- Verified: reviewed steps executed on a stated release, with a reviewer and verification date recorded.
All current lessons are concept drafts. Referencing documentation for a release does not mean a lesson has been tested on that release.
What we are building next
Section titled “What we are building next”The next step is to select a training release and test environment, review the concepts, and create hands-on configuration tutorials. Concept paths now cover administration, integrations, reporting, and delivery. Release-tested system walkthroughs, development, and functional process tutorials remain future work.
Browser practice and data
Section titled “Browser practice and data”The query lab runs on fictional records in your browser. Quiz answers remain in the page and are not saved. These tools do not connect to IFS. The site stores your theme preference locally.
Independent, with clear references
Section titled “Independent, with clear references”howtoifs is not affiliated with or endorsed by IFS. IFS names and marks belong to their respective owners. Original learning material here complements the official IFS documentation and IFS Academy.
