Building a data warehouse extract process against IFS's fully managed Cloud service, where the customer explicitly doesn't get general database access — what's the actual supported approach for getting data out into an external DWH?

Answer

If your company already has a Site-to-Site VPN or ExpressRoute connection to IFS's hosted environment (a prerequisite for this), that gives you private network access to the database server itself. On top of that connectivity, use the standard read-only IFSINFO database account (the one account IFS provides by default for this kind of use case on Cloud) as the credential for your ETL/integration tool (for example, in an Azure Integration Runtime feeding an Azure DWH) rather than expecting broader database access. For what to actually extract, work with functional consultants to identify the relevant Information Sources, Dimensions, and Facts as your structured source layer, or build a purpose-specific IAL if the standard Information Sources don't cover what you need.
