A Quick Report runs fine manually, but the same SQL fails with a 'SQL Statement Malformed' error when it's run as a scheduled Application Server Task with JobType = QuickReport. What's different about the scheduled path?

Check for leading whitespace or blank lines before the SELECT keyword in the Quick Report's query box — a query that runs fine interactively can still fail as a scheduled Appl Server Task if SELECT isn't the very first token in the statement. Trimming any leading characters so SELECT starts at position 1 resolves it.
