How do you build a custom expression for a scheduled Application Task that should normally run weekly on a specific day and time (like Monday at 17:00), but automatically shift to the next working day if the normal day falls on a company holiday (defined via work_time_exception_code)?

Answer

Use the Work Time Calendar API's Get_Next_Work_Day function inside the schedule's custom expression to resolve the next actual working day relative to your target day, rather than hardcoding the day of the week — for example, something like ifsapp.work_time_calendar_api.Get_Next_Work_Day('*', next_day(SYSDATE, 'MONDAY')-1) + (target_minutes/60/24), where '*' is replaced with the name of the Calendar linked to your holiday/exception codes, and the added fraction represents the target time of day. This automatically resolves to the next actual working day (skipping holidays defined in that calendar) rather than blindly firing on the literal calendar day even when it's a holiday.
