Answer
Database virtualization support for the IFS Application database follows Oracle's own general virtualization support policies, including Oracle's own specific VMware support-policy documentation, rather than IFS maintaining a separate virtualization policy of its own. For the IFS Middleware Server specifically, only virtualization/OS combinations where the underlying operating system itself is an IFS-supported OS are supported. For other components generally: if a problem on a virtualized deployment turns out to be a known IFS Applications issue, IFS will recommend a fix as normal; but if it's determined to be VM-specific rather than an IFS Applications issue, the customer needs to reproduce it on a physical system, or get their VM vendor's support involved, before IFS will investigate further, and any issue confirmed to be genuinely VM-specific gets referred back to the VM vendor's own support channel.
