Is there an easier way to create a new Test environment (as a renamed copy of an existing environment, after an RMAN restore of the source database) than manually installing all of that environment's historical deliveries one by one?

Answer

Use IFS's own instance backup-and-restore-as-clone tooling rather than manually reinstalling every historical delivery: locate the create_backup.cmd file under the existing source instance's own instance\<name>\bin folder (checking the technical documentation, or the command file itself, for its exact parameters) to back up the source instance, and use its corresponding restore-as-clone command to extract and restore that backup as a new instance under a different target name. This clones the existing, already-up-to-date instance directly under a new name, rather than needing to reapply the full delivery history manually against a fresh base install.
