Querying an IAL from a SQL tool using the documented &IAL.<view_name> substitution syntax prompts for the IAL value, but entering an Application Object (AO)/username still results in 'table or view does not exist,' even though the IAL itself was created correctly.

Answer

Assuming the IAL's permissions are otherwise fine, query the view directly under the IFSINFO schema instead of using the &IAL. substitution prefix — for example, IFSINFO.<view_name> rather than &IAL.<view_name>. The &IAL. prefix is meant for use inside the IAL-substitution context itself (like within another IAL or report definition), not as a general-purpose schema prefix to type directly into an arbitrary SQL client tool.
