What does the "Deployment Name" entered when deploying a Workflow actually affect — is there a naming convention or best practice for it?

Answer

It has no functional significance for how the workflow behaves — it's purely a human-readable label, useful for conveying a hint about what a specific deployed version is for (visible on the workflow page) so you can tell versions apart at a glance without opening each one up; beyond that readability benefit, there's no behavioral difference based on what you name it.
