Change the database connection string, the JDBC connection string, directly from the MWS Admin Console, under its 'common > database' section, rather than needing a full server reinstall. A Reconfiguration still needs to be run afterward to propagate that new database connection through the rest of the environment's configuration and get everything else properly set up against the newly connected database.
