When switching from a Java-based print agent to a .NET-based one, does the new agent need a bigger server?

Answer

Not necessarily — the same processor and memory allocation that ran the older Java-based agent has been reported as sufficient for the newer .NET-based one, so don't assume a like-for-like agent swap requires a hardware upgrade without first testing on your existing spec.
