Is it possible to do a full-text search to find documents stored in IFS's Document Management, and does it matter whether documents are stored inside the database or in an external location?

Answer

Yes, but the built-in Document Search full-text feature only works for documents that are actually stored INSIDE the database itself — documents stored in an external file-based repository location aren't covered by that built-in search feature at all. This is an important tradeoff to weigh against moving large document volumes to external storage for size/backup-performance reasons, since doing so comes at the direct cost of losing built-in full-text document search for those externally-stored documents.
