Where in Document Management is the 'Association Category' basic-data value actually used — it's visible as basic data, but there's no obvious place to connect it to a document?

It's set on the Object tab of a Document Revision, not somewhere in the document class or basic-data setup itself — that's where an individual document revision gets connected to an Association Category.
