Answer

Yes — configure a new Custom Projection (via Projection Configurations) and attach the custom entity (the Custom LU) to it. Once that projection is configured and published, it automatically exposes a REST/OData API for that entity, which an external application can call directly to insert (or otherwise transact) data — replacing the need to route data through a flat file and Migration Job entirely.
