A synchronous Inbound Request web service, built to return a custom designed response string, instead always returns a generic 'Message ... is posted to IN1' acknowledgment when tested via Postman or an integration platform, regardless of the actual response logic configured.

Answer

Check the routing rule tied to that inbound service for a queue assignment — if a queue is selected, the message gets processed asynchronously, which is what produces the generic 'posted to queue' acknowledgment instead of your actual designed response. Setting the routing rule's queue to None causes it to be handled synchronously instead, which is required for the caller to receive your actual designed response body rather than the generic asynchronous acknowledgment.
