An SFTP-based integration fails to connect after an environment or client update — could it be the negotiated algorithms?

Answer

Modern SFTP servers often drop older key-exchange/cipher algorithms by default, so a client that isn't updated can fail to negotiate a connection at all after a server-side change — check the connector's supported algorithm list before assuming the credentials are wrong.
