Creating a new IFS Connect File Reader, is it possible to have its IN_DIRECTORY point at a folder on a different server than the application server, and what's needed to make that work?

Answer

Yes — IN_DIRECTORY just needs to be a fully qualified folder path or network share reachable from the application server; it doesn't have to be local to that server. The key requirement is permissions: whichever Windows account the 'IFS MWS nodemanager' service is configured to log on as needs full access to that remote folder or share, since that's the identity actually reading from the location at runtime.
