A custom field's LOV is built against a standard view (like DISCRETE_CHARAC_VALUE) and needs to always be filtered down to rows matching a specific fixed condition, like CHARACTERISTIC_CODE = 'ABC' — is there a way to pass a WHERE clause directly into the LOV's view reference?

Answer

Use a Saved Search instead of trying to pass a raw WHERE clause into the LOV directly: RMB on the LOV field itself and choose Properties, then select a specific Saved Search, built with the desired filter condition already defined, to drive that LOV's available options. This filters the LOV down to just the matching rows without needing to alter or reference a custom filtered view directly.
