What does the 'Form Mapping' / Navigation section in Lobby Element Designer actually do, and when is it actually needed versus a plain display-only element?

Answer

Form Mapping (configured in the Element Designer's Navigation section) is what makes clicking an item in a Lobby element actually navigate to a relevant IFS form/page, rather than the element being purely a static display of data. In the Navigation section, you specify the target form's URL address, then map specific view columns (auto-suggested based on the columns already used in the Data section, though a Custom entry can be used if the needed column isn't listed) to that form's own navigation parameters — this passes the clicked record's actual key values through to the target form so it opens showing the right record. Navigation can also be made conditional based on a specific column's value, directing to different targets depending on what that column contains for the clicked row. Without any Form Mapping configured, an element just displays its data with no click-through navigation at all.
