After copying a standard .report/.rdf pair into a custom area and adding an entity in Developer Studio, the two files appear disconnected and generated code doesn't reflect the change.

Check the GenerateRdf codegen property on the .report file — if it's set to not generate/sync the .rdf automatically, edits made through the designer can silently stop being reflected between the two files even though nothing looks obviously wrong in the editor.
