After restoring a production database backup over a Test database, Crystal Reports in the Test environment stop returning any data, even though the reports themselves and their configuration weren't touched.

Answer

Check whether the IFSSYS and IFSPRINT database user passwords in Test still match what Crystal Web Service is configured to use — a database restore from Production can leave these passwords different between the source and destination environments if they weren't already synchronized before the restore, and Crystal Web Service's own connection to the database depends on having the correct current password for these accounts. On Apps10, enabling Crystal Web Service (CWS) logging is the way to pinpoint the exact cause precisely if the password check doesn't immediately resolve it.
