Can a report be launched from a custom menu action and automatically use the current record as its parameter?

Passing the current record's context into a report action is a supported pattern, but the report's parameters have to be explicitly designed to accept it — a report built assuming manual parameter entry won't automatically pick up a record context just because it's launched from a menu.
