Is it possible to automatically select a different report layout depending on a business condition — for example, forcing a watermarked or visually distinct layout for a Purchase Order printed while still in Draft/Planned status, versus the normal layout once it's formally Approved, to prevent a draft-stage printout from being mistaken for (or misused as) an approved document?

Answer

Yes — use a Report Rule for this: set the Report Rule's Condition to check the relevant status (for example, the item/document being in Draft or Planned state), and in the Report Rule's Action, use Set Property to force the specific layout that should apply under that condition. This lets you enforce a distinct layout (like one carrying a watermark) automatically whenever the condition is met, without relying on the user to manually pick the right layout themselves — which is exactly the control needed for a scenario like preventing an early-stage draft printout from visually passing as a final approved document.
