Changing the password for IFSAPP (the application owner account) through the login screen returns 'IFS Application Owner can not be changed using this method' — how is the IFSAPP password actually changed?

Answer

This depends on the authentication mechanism configured for the environment. Under Database authentication, IFSAPP's password can be changed from the login screen, provided the ifs.changePasswordEnabled property is set to true in the environment's ifs.properties file (the installer normally sets this automatically when Database Authentication is selected during setup) — if it isn't set correctly, update the property, save the file, and restart the application servers, after which changing the password from the login screen should work. Under SSO or LDAP-based authentication, the password can't be changed from the application's login screen at all for any account, including internal accounts like IFSAPP — for those authentication types, changing IFSAPP's password has to be done directly at the database level (a standard ALTER USER <username> IDENTIFIED BY <new_password>; statement), since there's no equivalent self-service password-change flow through the external SSO/LDAP provider for an internal database account like IFSAPP.
