Is there a way to track historical user activity in IFS/Oracle — which modules/transactions were used, by whom, how frequently, and which had the highest CPU usage — beyond what gv$session shows for currently active sessions, without access to Oracle Enterprise Manager?

Answer

Use Oracle's own built-in Database Auditing feature — it's disabled by default, but once enabled via the AUDIT_TRAIL initialization parameter (values include none, os, db, db,extended, xml, or xml, extended), Oracle records session audits (logon/logoff events), database action/object audits, and DDL audits (create/alter/drop) into the SYS.AUD$ table (by default located in the SYSTEM tablespace) as they happen — giving you genuine historical activity data rather than just a current-session snapshot. Enabling database-based auditing is done with something like ALTER SYSTEM SET audit_trail=db SCOPE=SPFILE; (requiring a database restart to take effect, since AUDIT_TRAIL is a static parameter). This is a standard Oracle DBA capability, independent of IFS itself, so extensive general Oracle documentation on configuring and querying Oracle Auditing applies directly.
