Is it possible to feed a scanned barcode value directly into an Aurena page field (for example, scanning an order number to pull up a related image), without building custom scanner-integration code?

Answer

For a desktop workstation, the simplest approach is a 'keyboard wedge' USB barcode scanner — physically just a USB device, but electronically it presents itself to the operating system as a keyboard, sending each scanned barcode as ordinary keystrokes into whatever field currently has focus. Because it looks like keyboard input, it works with an Aurena page field the same way as manual typing would, without needing any application-level scanner integration. Most of these scanners support configurable control codes (via their own setup/programming barcodes) to adjust behavior in their onboard memory — for example, suppressing an automatic Enter keystroke after each scan, which you'd usually want to avoid triggering an unwanted form submit.
