After unpublishing an LU, removing an unwanted custom field, republishing the LU, and recreating its dependent custom page, the newly recreated custom page doesn't show up when trying to add it to a custom tab — though it does mysteriously appear on its own the following day. Is there a background job that rebuilds something overnight, and is there a way to make the page available immediately instead of waiting?

Answer

Manually refresh the relevant server caches right after making this kind of change, specifically the Dictionary Cache, Reference Cache, and Security Cache from the Refresh Server Cache page, and then log out and back into IFS afterward. This makes newly (re)created pages and objects immediately visible and usable, rather than needing to wait for whatever background process eventually catches up and refreshes things on its own overnight.
