An Excel Migration Job's Modify method fails on a column flagged Mandatory Insert (MI) when no default value is set, but setting a default value then blocks modifying existing records with a "may not be modified" error on that same field.

Answer

On the Method List tab of the migration job, right-click the relevant view to open its Method List Attribute settings and uncheck "On Modify" for that specific column — this stops the migration job from including that mandatory-insert-only field on modify operations while still requiring and inserting it correctly for new records, resolving the conflict between the insert-side requirement and the modify-side restriction.
