Developer Studio's installer fails partway through, with reinstalling, uninstalling, and rebooting all failing to fix it, and the previous version now warns it will only work with Apps9-era projects.

Answer

Delete the tool's User Directory content before reinstalling — locate it under %AppData%\Roaming\DeveloperStudio\<version>\ (for example C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\DeveloperStudio\22.12\), close the tool first, delete everything inside that version-specific folder, then download a fresh installer from the Developer Portal and reinstall. A corrupted user directory for the specific version has caused exactly this kind of install failure and warning.
