How do you set up Developer Studio with Docker to actually debug a projection's Java implementation code (FunctionsImpl.java/ActionsImpl.java), rather than just deploying it and hoping the logic is correct?

Answer

This requires Docker Desktop installed locally, plus a specific Developer Studio setup: in your project's Properties, go to the Technologies tab and enable the Docker Support checkbox, then right-click the project node and Synchronize Libraries. To deploy and run: right-click your projection file (containing the Java implementation) and Add to Application Server, then Clean and Build the Application Server and confirm it builds without errors. Right-click the Application Server node and Start Docker (the first run downloads the Docker image, which takes a while) and wait for the server-ready message, then Deploy your Java implementation the same way — the server then runs at localhost:8001, and you can invoke your Java logic by exercising the relevant function/action from the Aurena client running against that local server. For subsequent code changes, edit FunctionsImpl.java/ActionsImpl.java directly and use the Quick Deploy option rather than repeating the full build cycle. To actually debug: attach the Java debugger from Developer Studio using debugger type Java Debugger (JPDA), connector Socket Attach, port 8787, set breakpoints on the lines you want to inspect, then trigger the function/action from the local Aurena client to hit them. The process is broadly the same for IFS Cloud, with some differences from this Apps10-specific version of the steps.
