IFS Cloud's documentation says non-multitenant (single-instance) Oracle databases aren't supported — what actually goes wrong if a customer upgrading from an older Apps version uses a single-instance database anyway?

Answer

Using an unsupported database configuration means it hasn't been tested or benchmarked by R&D against that IFS Cloud version, so you're meaningfully more exposed to unforeseen issues, and — critically — neither IFS Support nor R&D will be able to help if something does go wrong specifically because of that unsupported configuration. Following the Supported Platforms guide (which currently requires a multitenant database) is strongly recommended rather than treated as an optional best practice.
