There's no dedicated automatic-trigger setting for this in the standard client, but you can achieve it with a Scheduled Database Task: configure one to run on your desired interval and call the 'Create Consolidated Pick List for Customer Order' API function. That function only creates pick lists for orders that are actually ready (respecting backorder settings), so scheduling it to run periodically effectively automates pick list generation without needing a custom workflow.
