You generally can't stack a carry-over on top of a previous carry-over on the same line, but setting an unlimited valid-to date on the carry-over absence limit can achieve an effectively indefinite balance without needing to re-summarize it each year — confirm this configuration against your specific absence type rather than assuming a hard cap always applies.
