Is there a way to make a Work Task Step mandatory in Mobile Work Order (MWO) — i.e. force a mobile user to explicitly set it to Done or Cancelled before they can complete the overall assignment?

Answer

Not currently — marking the step Required in Page/Apps Designer doesn't actually block completing the parent assignment without a status on that step. If this is important for your process, it's a genuine product gap worth raising as an improvement idea rather than something achievable through configuration today.
