Custom fields added to the Attributes tab of a Custom Logical Unit display alphabetically, but when the same fields are added to a Custom Page, the columns appear in a seemingly arbitrary order. How is the actual display order of columns on a custom page controlled?

Answer

For a tabular/overview-style display, manually drag the columns into the order you want them displayed in — there's no separate configuration setting, just direct reordering by dragging. For a Form View specifically, set the order instead via RMB > Properties > Layout on the form. If you want the change to apply consistently for multiple users sharing a profile, make the same reordering edit within the relevant Base Profile in edit mode, then save it there. One informal workaround worth knowing, useful only before custom fields are first deployed: since there's no dedicated sequence/order field for custom attributes, prefixing each not-yet-deployed field's name with a number, like 100_CF_<FieldName>, 101_CF_<FieldName>, forces their natural alphabetical sort order to match your intended display order.
