If a Crystal Report used as a Quick Report contains sub-reports, does the CR_WEB_INIT initialization procedure need to be added to the sub-report(s) as well as the main report?

No — CR_WEB_INIT only needs to be added to the MAIN report, not separately to the sub-report(s). What does need separate attention is making sure the sub-report(s) are correctly linked to the main report using the appropriate shared view fields between the main report and each sub-report. Also worth noting generally: CR_WEB_INIT should only ever be added to genuine Crystal QUICK Reports specifically, not to Crystal Operational Reports, which don't use this same initialization mechanism.
