Is it possible to add a custom document footer to a Report Designer report (like a Quotation Letter) entirely through the .report file, without modifying the auto-generated RDF?

Answer

Yes — define a dedicated footer block in the .report file that queries the standard footer configuration through Footer_Connection_API (checking first whether a footer is actually connected for that report/company via Is_Report_Footer_Connected, then pulling the configured footer title/text pairs with Get_Footer_Details), and writes each footer field out as XML elements using Xml_Record_Writer_SYS. Declaring a set of generic text attributes on the block (enough to cover the maximum number of footer fields you need) lets the block populate whichever of them the configured footer actually uses, all driven from the .report file's own SQL/PL/SQL sections rather than any change to the generated RDF.
