Two separate IFS instances run on the same application server, and each needs its own Crystal Web Service — but the Add-Ons installer only offers a Remove/Modify option (no fresh Install) once one CWS instance already exists on that server. How do you set up a second, independent CWS instance for the second environment?

Answer

Create the second instance manually rather than through the installer: copy the existing Crystal Web Service folder in your web server's document root to a new folder for the second environment, then update that copy's environment-specific configuration (including the encrypted internal-user credentials, which can be found in that instance's configuration file, or simply swap in the config file that ships inside that environment's own Crystal Web Service package) so it points at the correct IFS instance. In IIS, convert the new folder into its own web application (using the .NET application pool), then update that second environment's System Parameters to point at this newly created Crystal Web Service instance instead of the shared/default one.
